Alex Zapalac is a unique and rising voice in the game industry. A childhood survivor of abuse by a religious cult, Alex has broken free of the limitations of his past and is on a singular mission to bring more joy and play to the world, believing that video games can change and even save lives. Alex has a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, and taught himself higher-level languages in order to make games using modern tools and engines.
After completing his undergraduate degree, he enrolled in a one year intensive Master’s program under the tutelage of game industry icons Brenda and John Romero. There, he published his first shipped game, Eruption, as part of a team of four developers. Eruption was released on Steam to positive reviews.
Over the course of his career, Alex has come all the way from making a game of Pong using only NAND gates to working on Grand Theft Auto 6 at Rockstar Games. He’s currently working on Dreamwalker: The Forgotten Gate, a long-time passion project he’s been cooking for the past 7 years.
